We are beyond excited to offer an opportunity to gather with our long time friend and alchemist Jennette Nielsen of Cauldron & Hive. Lets slow down time and spend two days together over the autumnal equinox, immersed in a bundle dye workshop at ‘the fabricated & the found’ ATELIER in Carnation WA, where we will use found and foraged botanicals, flora and fauna, and the transformative alchemy of the dye cauldron, to fabricate stunning silk yardage.

On day one we will take time to create simple talismans to identify our bundles in the community cauldron before slow~stitching sacred marks on our expanse of silk. Then we will intuitively collect the botanical offerings we are drawn to and discuss thoroughly and learn deeply how to effectively and beautifully eco-dye our silk cloth, which when finished, can be used and enjoyed in a myriad of ways.

On day two, we will loiter with intent to witness the wonder and enchantment that happens in the dye pot overnight as we retrieve our botanical bundles from the cauldron and begin the unbundling and finishing process.

At the end of the two days you will not only come away with a gorgeous botanical/eco bundle dyed XL square of silk, but also with a potent understanding of the process to replicate the magic at home!

NO EXPERIENCE NECESSARY! everyone is welcome in this safe space!

Bio & links:

Jennette Nielsen, born and raised in the pacific northwest, is a ritualist, animist, and embodied folkloric wild woman. She is a honey-drenched woodland witch, orphan wisdom school scholar, community centered
herbalist, and bee priestess, studying & reclaiming the vibrant & vital gynocentric/yonic/pythonic ancient european shamanism of her beloved ancestors, who most recently were settler-colonialists to the midwest from the Scandinavian and Western European diaspora. As a mother raising two sons, Jennette has long studied earth-based ancestral skills alongside her boys and enjoys botanical dyeing cloth and paper, singing, basket weaving, yoga and dance, hand sewing, herb craft, gardening, and pottery.

Jennette has been covening with women for years and not only hosts full/new moon circles, blessingways, and anchors the thresholds of birth, death and divorce in her community, but also organizes women’s spiritual/creative covens around the world, most recently in the South of France, Sonoma, Ojai, New Orleans and the PNW. She loves to travel and most recently has touched her feet to Mother Earth in Peru, Oaxaca, Costa Rica, India, France and Bali. Jennette will be hosting a creative make-to-mend Maker’s Coven in the mythic Aquitaine, France in the summer of 2020 and longs to visit her ancestral homeland of Denmark during that time too.
